Fairwinds Technologies has been awarded a $30 million contract by Comtech for its Troposcatter family of systems (FOS) to support U.S. Army tactical communications. The announcement was made by Comtech on July 13.

Fairwinds, a tech systems integrator, secured the contract through the NASA solutions for enterprise-wide procurement (SEWP) V catalog.

According to CEO Ken Peterman, this order positions the company as the leading provider of next-generation Troposcatter systems for the U.S. Army. The software-defined Troposcatter FOS will be utilized for Army beyond-line-of-sight communications across all domains.

Ken Peterman, president and CEO of Comtech, stated, “This award further demonstrates Comtech’s global leadership in turnkey Troposcatter communications technologies as well as the value of our battle-proven FOS, which can deliver robust, high capacity BLOS capabilities when and where they matter most.”
