The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) has successfully launched its NROL-68 mission into orbit with the help of United Launch Alliance’s (ULA) Delta IV Heavy rocket. The launch took place on June 22 at 5:18 a.m. EDT from Space Launch Complex-37 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This marks ULA’s 156th launch with a 100 percent success rate.
Gary Wentz, ULA vice president of Government and Commercial Programs, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the NRO and their trust in delivering critical national security capabilities to orbit. This mission was the 11th Delta IV Heavy for the NRO and the second-to-last launch of the nation’s heavy lift vehicle.
As ULA transitions to its next generation Vulcan rocket, the final Delta IV Heavy will launch in 2024. With over 155 missions under its belt, ULA is the nation’s most experienced and reliable launch service provider, delivering unmatched value, reliability, and mission optimization. Their tireless drive to improve and commitment to excellence sets them apart in the industry.
