GPR Secures Series A Funding Following Strong Customer Traction

Ground Positioning Radar (GPR), the world’s only provider of its kind, has secured an undisclosed amount of Series A funding led by Rhapsody Venture Partners. GPR’s technology offers precise vehicle localization in all visibility circumstances, including limited visibility environments such as snow, heavy rain, and fog, and unstructured environments such as mining sites, sidewalks, ports, and tarmacs. Currently, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) sensors are used in conjunction with cameras and Lidar systems to overcome GPS limitations, but these systems rely on clear above ground visibility. GPR’s unique approach involves scanning the ground below the road and creating a 3-D map of the road’s unique subsurface signatures, enabling reliable and precise localization regardless of aboveground visibility conditions. The investment will allow GPR to serve its lighthouse customers and meet demand through the commercialization and industrialization of its technology, with plans to be on thousands of vehicles in 2024. The technology is fundamental to creating safe advanced driving systems and has significant implications for the advancement of autonomous vehicles and geospatial technologies.
