SpaceX Sends 47 Additional Starlink Satellites into Orbit

SpaceX has successfully launched 47 new Starlink satellites into orbit from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The Falcon 9 rocket carrying the satellites took off at 3:19 a.m. EDT and the satellites were confirmed to have been deployed an hour later. The rocket’s first stage also returned to Earth and landed on the Pacific Ocean-based drone ship Of Course I Still Love You at 3:28 a.m. The new satellites will be part of SpaceX’s mega constellation of probes designed to provide broadband Internet access to remote locations around the world. SpaceX has more than 4,600 Starlink satellites transmitting globally and has permission to deploy 12,000, with approval sought for another 30,000. Last week, SpaceX announced that it is providing Internet service to Trinidad and Tobago thanks to Starlink.
