Designing a Hypersonic Demonstrator for the Next Generation

Designing a Hypersonic Demonstrator for the Next Generation

The University of Texas at Arlington’s Aerospace Vehicle Design (AVD) Laboratory has been tasked with designing a military hypersonic missile system that can fly faster and further than any other air-breathing vehicle in history. The project, funded by Parallax Advanced Research, aims to create a vehicle that can fly at speeds above 6,905 mph, which is beyond nine times the speed of sound. The AVD Laboratory has a team of graduate aerospace engineering researchers who will be working on the project for five months. The project will showcase how every university should approach hypersonic vehicle design and forecasting.
