Accenture Invests in SpiderOak to Enhance Security of Satellite Communications in Space

Accenture Ventures has invested in SpiderOak, a cybersecurity firm that offers zero-trust solutions for space systems. SpiderOak’s OrbitSecure product suite uses a combination of no-knowledge encryption and distributed-ledger technology to provide cybersecurity in zero-gravity environments. The suite includes a decentralised key management system that ensures continued operations in space, even within disconnected or highly contested networks. The investment is part of Accenture Ventures’ Project Spotlight, which targets emerging technology companies that can help fill strategic innovation gaps for the Global 2000. The move comes as the number of satellites in space increases, leading to a need for a hybrid, multi-party environment built with security by design.
