Zenno’s Fuel-Free Satellite Pointing System Experiences a Surge in Sales

New Zealand-based Zenno Astronautics has reported that it has sold more than $75m worth of its Z01 superconducting magnetorquer for spacecraft attitude control in under a year. The fuel-free satellite pointing system uses cryogenically cooled high-temperature superconductors to generate strong magnetic fields that interact with the Earth’s geomagnetic field, allowing the satellite to rotate and shift. The system is significantly smaller and lighter than existing attitude control technologies, reducing launch costs and creating new possibilities for spacecraft design and deployment. Zenno is planning to launch its first full-scale Z01 attitude control system in late 2023.
