Airbus has announced the shipment of its latest geostationary Eurostar Neo satellite, the Arabsat BADR-8, to Cape Canaveral for launch. The satellite will provide connectivity across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and central Asia, and will feature a world-first innovation from Airbus: the space demonstrator TELEO, which will provide space to ground optical communications at gigabit speeds. This is the eighth satellite built by Airbus for Arabsat, with whom the company has had a 20-year relationship. The TELEO demonstrator will be used to validate technical scenarios and innovations for GEO to ground communications of the order of one terabit per second.
