Orbit Fab, a US space company, is developing a refuelling technology that could make the satellite industry more sustainable and profitable. Satellites require fuel to adjust their positions, but their lives are limited by how much fuel they can carry. Orbit Fab aims to send several large tanks into orbit, each containing up to several tons of fuel, with smaller vessels shuttling back and forth between the tanks and satellites. The company has already launched one tank into orbit and plans to conduct fuel transfer tests. Between 200 and 250 satellites are already being designed to use the system.
