Italian scientists have developed a new catalogue of spectroscopic measurements for all Milky Way stars. The Survey of Surveys (SoS) is the largest catalogue of radial velocity to date, containing data for more than 11 million stars. The project was led by Maria Tsantaki, a postdoctoral researcher in INAF-Florence, and used the ESA Gaia mission catalogue as reference. The SoS catalogue will allow scientists to better characterise the stars hosting planets and determine their properties, such as mass, radius and density. The catalogue is available through GaiaPortal, the Italian gateway to access Gaia data.
