Analytics Ready Data workshop

This month Astro Digital participated in Analytics Ready Data (ARD) workshop at USGS office in Menlo Park, CA. The workshop’s goal is to facilitate collaboration on data product standards, specifically quality and delivery formats, in order to help simplify the use of data in analytical applications.

The event brought together a range of different stakeholders, including government organizations (like USGS, NASA, EROS and ESA), commercial data providers (Astro Digital, Urthecast, Planet), data processing vendors (Descartes, Element 84, TileDB) and data consumers like Climate Corporation, NGA and USDA. It was a great place to talk about current challenges as well as general perspectives and the vision for the next generation satellite imagery.

Maria Angeles Capellades Sola — Sr. Director of Pipelines Engineering at Climate Corporation talked about the demand in using a standard metadata layer for all the ARD datasets and using it for all the data levels of processing.

Astro Digital engineer Alex Kudriashova shared the results of a recent quality assessment of Landmapper-BC4 data and its validation against Sentinel-2.
